Over the last 20 years we have discovered that certain key attack dynamics determine the worth of any defense strategy or defense device.

Mike Tyson one said, “Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth.” This applies even more to self defense than it does to boxing in the ring. In the ring, you are ready. Your opponent is about your size and strength. There is only one of them and you both have padded gloves and a referee to make sure you don’t cheat. None of that is true in a sudden, violent attack.

First, the attacker is likely to be more powerful that you or there will be more than one. Second, he does not abide by any rules and will try to hit you by surprise with the most violent force he can muster. Third, there is no referee and usually no spectators.

Given these realities, what is the best strategy?

Here is a list of critical considerations.

  1. You must have a non-lethal force-multiplier that is non-weapon in appearance and is very comfortable, physically and mentally, to have in hand prior to the attack occurring. If it’s in a pocket, purse, holster or backpack, it will likely be useless.
  2. The device's design must allow instant activation with no steps and no fine motor skills. It must be “force indexed,” meaning it is always in firing position. You must be able to deploy it as quickly as you could throw a punch and do so while being tackled to the ground. So, it must not only be force-indexed, but secured.
  3. The device must be capable of instant incapacitation, effectively disabling the attacker for a long enough time for you to get to safety, even if the attacker is drug impaired or there is more than one attacker.

The D.A.D.® 2 is not only capable of all these things, but has taken the technology to award winning heights with Crowd Alert™ technology, designed to alert those in the best position to help you and potentially stop an attack in progress or before it initiates. It also can alert people, in real time, thousands of miles away, giving a parent on another continent the ability to help a family member by providing police with critical information, within minutes, concerning the time and location of the attack and photo of the victim.

If you think of most any other device, they fall short in most all of these critical capabilities. This is why experts so freely endorse the D.A.D.® 2 as “By far the best personal protection device.
